Going down the cellar stairs myself to exchange places with my young son, I'm assaulted both visually and in an olfactory sense. My old BB gun leans in the corner of the door jam, waiting, news clippings line the wall as I go downward: "young boy keeps unclaimed returned money", my mother had made such a fuss that I had turned in money I had found in the bathroom at the restaurant where we had dinner. Chapter 7 -- A Talk with Mom Anthony took his mother's hands as they sat at the kitchen table in the sun and he told her how he had found himself swimming longer and longer in the ocean, and how it had given him renewed strength and perseverance. Well, we had a good time in San Francisco. We saw a lot of stuff right in the city, never got over to Berkeley or Oakland but did get up to the Muir Woods -- just north of Sausalito a forest full of thousand year-old trees, like looking up at a starry sky, it puts things in perspective. This weekend, my ex mother-in-law (my mother outlaw?) Showed up at our house and tried to take my son. I couldn't F___ing believe it! She had this thing from the tribal clerk's office where his mother had signed over custody to her mother. The cops were already to make him go with her. Until my wife, Nikki (bless her heart) or otherwise referred to as "Little Mrs. Wonderful", pointed out that his mother isn't the legal custodian -- I am! Oh man, I was just about freaking out!
