Who/what are you living for today?
I begin first: I am living for my parents today.

I live for all and now at this particular moment for you.
“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””
“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.
I am living to study (so it seems at the moment).
I am living to discover today.
I am living to work around the house today. But it has to be done.

Living for the sake of living and nothing else.
Everyone lives for living, for nothing is sweeter than the taste of life.
Everything in life is enjoyable in life and things are enjoyable just because life is a thing of beauty.

...waiting for someone who is unlikely to show up for the rest of the day.

I am inevitably living for the world, for I love the world, for I am the LORD,in all anguish, they shall take refuge in me!

This is really an interesting question and in fact this calls for great
thoughts and reflections.
In fact no one knows what he really and exactly lives for. We may live for a number of things. Some people live for consumption. Maybe to build a house and marry, birth kids and have a life with lots of excitement.
I often think if not always, I live for writing a good book and that book will sell immensely.
Or some people live for an ambition or materialization of the ambition they live with.
Still others live for self realization or to see God or to do lots of work, charitable works out of out of benovelence.
Or to put this a little differently, we many a time live unaware of what we live for and whom we live for.
As regards what we live for I have said that there could be a thousand and one reason what we live for.
Maybe we are wrong in saying what we really live for and more often we idealize or rationalize particular ways but we are not really living for that.
The answer I have is we do not know exactly what we live for.
But as regards to your another question, whom we live for every one has an answer depending upon his or her perception of life.
Some persons, and in fact many may say they live for a particular one or ones they love in life.
Maybe for family members, like for parents, spouses, or sons and daughters and the like.
When we say 'whom' we live for we have definite answers, but when we say
what we live for we have vaguer answers, totally indistinct and uncelar.
I can not say whether any can have a proper answer. For through generations or millenniums we find no answers to this question.
I like this question very much for a simple reason that this seeks answers for the entire philosophical question.
In fact all philosophers right from Gregorian time to now seeks answers to this question, but end up finding no answer.
Of course you have answers, but never a right one.
I have written three times here in response to this question and yet I am not sartisfied with I wrote. Yet I cannot resist the temptation of sharing with you.
Maybe sharing something with someone or people at particular time and place is what I live for.

Right now i am living for a good nights sleep in my bed!

Interesting thoughts there, blaze. Although we don't seem to have the right or exact answer, it does never stop us from searching for one.
Me as well, for a good sleep so that I could live well tomorrow.
